LIMES LAND, TENTERDEN

July 2022

Unfortunately the High Court did not think that there was enough evidence to challenge the appeal decision, so a Judicial Review will not take place.

ABC, together with the other 70+ councils, need to challenge the government to reduce building targets in areas affected by pollution. Large swathes of countryside are being decimated by development because developers gain planning permission on appeal as the council cannot show that they have a 5 year housing land supply. This is happening all over the country and it needs to stop!

June 2022

Homewood School/Tenterden Schools Trust is now consulting residents regarding their intention to dispose of school land. LLPG believe that this land should remain as school land for the benefit of current and future pupils - if you agree, please object to the proposal by emailing consultation@homewood.kent.sch.uk.

The school farm still use the land and so do the Army Cadets - children from both of these groups attend Homewood School.  Tenterden Town Council wanted to lease the land for the benefit of the town, yet the school signed an agreement with Wates Developments.

Please object to this proposal as the land was historically allocated as educational land for the benefit of the local community.

March 2022

UNFORTUNATELY, THE PLANNING INSPECTOR (MARTIN WHITEHEAD) HAS GRANTED PLANNING PERMISSION FOR HOUSES TO BE BUILT ON LIMES LAND. OUR WONDERFUL ANCIENT GREEN SPACE WILL BECOME ANOTHER HOUSING ESTATE, DESTROYING HABITAT AND WILDLIFE. THE QUINTESSENTIAL TOWN OF TENTERDEN IS BEING ERODED BY GREEDY DEVELOPERS AND IT APPEARS THAT NOTHING CAN STOP THEM!

13th February 2022

Over 150 residents took part in a protext walk across Limes Land.  We were amazed at the number of people who attended this event and wish to thank you all for taking the time to join us.

September 2021

LATEST NEWS - ABC rejected the latest Wates planning application. Thank you to the community for working together and objecting to the planning application. We expect Wates to appeal this decision and possibly coincide the appeal with another planning application, so be ready for more objections.

THANK YOU

Thank you so much to everyone who has written an objection to the recent planning application.  LLPG really appreciate your support.  We will keep you updated, however, if you have specific question, please do not hesitate to make contact using the 'contact' page.

New Planning Application Submitted

Wates have submitted another planning application which implies that they will be providing 50% affordable housing.  We all know that their idea of affordable housing is very different to those who are looking to get on the housing ladder.  Do not be fooled.  Affordable 1 bed flats at Tent 1 are at least £200,000 - this is not affordable housing and is just another loophole for developers to inflate the prices.

Oppose the planning application when it goes live next week.

26th April 2021

Please share photos or paintings of Limes Land.

Local resident, Phil Brandon Hunter, has graciously shared copies of his paintings.

17th April 2021

Wates did not submit an appeal for their planning application which was rejected by both Ashford BC and Tenterden TC.  We do believe that they will submit a revised planning application.

If you use the circular footpath around Limes Land, and have done so for a number of years, then please get in touch via email or use the contact page.  We are currently collecting witness testimonies from residents to support the footpath application.

23rd January 2021

Sheep are now grazing again on Limes Land.  Please be considerate and keep your dogs on a lead so that they do not scare/chase the sheep.  Thank you.

19th January 2021

UNFORTUNATELY, SOMEONE IS VANDALISING AND REMOVING THE LIMES LAND SIGNS AGAIN. WE BELIEVE AN APPEAL IS IMMINENT AND HOPE THIS BEHAVIOUR IS NOT RELATED TO THE FORTHCOMING APPEAL.

16th September 2020

Ashford Borough Council unanimously reject the Wates planning application.

Thank you to all those residents who took the time to write objections.

ABC PLANNING OFFICER RECOMMENDS THAT THE PLANNING APPLICATION IS REFUSED - PLANNING COMMITTEE WILL DECIDE ON 16TH SEPTEMBER

The primary reasons for refusal are:

- The application is contrary to the policies within the Ashford Local Plan.

- Several large trees will be lost harming the character of Appledore Road.

- Biodiversity loss contravening HOU5 and ENV1.

- Questions relating to the sporting facilities.

VANDALISED SIGNS

Unfortunately, many 'No Development' signs have been vandalised or stolen.  A man has been captured on CCTV and the images have been shared with Kent Police.

PUBLIC MEETING AT THE TOWN HALL

There will be a public meeting at the Town Hall on 17th February at 7pm.  We are encouraging everyone to attend to express their opposition to the planning application.

APPLICATION REJECTED - 17th February 2020

Tenterden Town Council has unanimously rejected the Wates planning application.  Ashford Borough Council Planning Committee will be reviewing the application, however, due to Covid 19, a meeting date has not yet been agreed.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT

Unfortunately, Ashford Borough Council decided that an EIA was not necessary for Limes Land.  We, along with Tenterden Town Council disagree with this decision.
